If you make your payments to BofA then your servicer is likely Bank of America, if they aren’t servicing the loan then they definitely can tell you who is and it should be included on your statement. They are required by law to tell you this information, see the link below for more info:

Bank of America should be able to tell you who owns the loan as well the website for the program does state that only loans owned by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac are eligible for home affordable refinancing, it does not sound like that’s the case here and its probably why you don’t qualify because you are looking to refinance and you aren’t passed due so you don’t qualify for the modification program which is a little more flexible. My other question is that since I am current on my payments but i feel that my mortgage balance is more than my home is worth, can i still try refinance without a loan modification? Should I get an Alienware M11x R3?

I have recently gotten into light PC gaming and I have decided that I would like to get an affordable yet good quality gaming laptop or notebook. I read up a LOT about the Alienware M11x R3 and I can happily say it looks like the machine I want. I know a lot of people hate or dislike alienware because most of their products are overpriced, but I’m a fan of the design and LED style that is uses on a lot of their computers.

The only problem is, I’m a bit stuck as to whether I should buy this or not. The one I get would be straight off the Alienware shop on the Dell website with these specs;

Intel i3 Processor
3GB DDR3 RAM (Later will be upgraded to 4/8)
1GB GeForce 540 Nvidia (its their default one)
Windows 7 home premium 64-bit

I would use it to play things like Spore, Minecraft, maybe some newer games (I have heard that it can play even new games like RAGE, Call of Duty e.t.c but I think they ran on the i7)

This would be very helpful to me if anyone can point me in the right direction, as I have set my heart on this notebook. I am aware of the lack of a disk drive, however this does not bother me too much and at £600 it seems like a nice affordable laptop for me.

Of course you want fresh, newly updated content. Google loves new content and even has a specific search for it. Add content as often as possible!

Submit your content to bookmarking sites but you probably already know this since you are a seasoned Webmaster/SEOer.

Deep Linking is critical. Most webmasters don’t get this but naturally a website gets deep links to the URLs of content, not to the homepage. You need to make linkbacks to the content in your site.

SEO Friendly URLs are critical to high ranking.

You need the keywords/phrases in your title in order to rank high. Make sure they are part of your title!

A few basic tips though. First off you want to find out which key words to target. I could only imagine the competition you`ll have ranking for the key words you have specified.

You can find out the best key words by using tools like adwords.google.com and https://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/.

If that is a WordPress site you have used, you can install the plugin “All-In-One SEO“ as well.

Stick with a simple site – anything with Flash or javascript is difficult for the search engines `spiders`to find your keywords.

Google likes fresh new content – make sure you ping your site every time you make an update. This can be done at http://pingomatic.com. Your current site should have more info about calling cards – search engines like to make sure that the site is relevant to the keyword.

This is really only scratching the surface. Google and Yahoo (the search engine titans) both have different criteria in what they look for when ranking a site higher AND lower.

Good content is most important – and I don’t mean loads of keywords, I mean ux. Write your content FOR your visitors, write something YOU would find interesting and you’re half way there.

Then validate your code – google w3c validator. VERY important.

Then get your description tags sorted also very important.

Then keep your page load quick – google website optimisation.

Then get on webmaster tools – submit a sitemap and check the HTML suggestions regularly – google will tell you if there’s anything it doesn’t like.
Do these things and I GUARANTEE you’ll see an increase.

It gets harder after this. Page structure – make sure things are in the right order – title, h1, h2, paragraphs. Put your important keywords near the top.

If you’ve done all this, google wordtracker – find the popular terms and track your positions – if you want to move up, make sure these terms are in your title tags etc.

Even harder – build some links (genuine ones) and use the keywords in the links.

Then keep repeating all these steps whilst adding content regularly.

First of all, you are going to have to decide what you want to use for your website before you can get books on it. Here are some component ideas that you could use to determine what you first want in website development:

1) You need to determine if you are using a unix/linux host or a windows host. Unix/linux is more stable, but harder to master, and windows is easier, but a bit less stable.

2) Once you pick one from above, you will have to pick a database type based on your choice. The database will hold all your websites information. If you chose linux/unix, you will want to look at MySQL and if you chose windows, you will want something like SQL Server.

3) Once you have chosen a database type, you will need a server-side language for serving up results to search etc. If you chose unix/linux with the mysql, you will probably want PHP. If you chose windows with SQL server, you will probably want ASP.NET.

4) You might want to do a bit of client side tricks and data handling. The best for that is JavaScript.

5) You will need a comprehensive book on Cascading style sheets (CSS) / HTML / Web Design. Usually you can find a book that uses all three.

Now use the tools you determined above to reference what books you should look at below in the sources section. Good luck!

Only knowing “basic Mandarin” isn’t going to cut it in China. You need to be fluent in Mandarin to work anywhere in China as a professional. All of your co-workers will be speaking Mandarin, all written communication and software will be in Mandarin, and (in the case of website development), your website will be in Mandarin.

Your inadequate Mandarin language skills mean that you are not a viable candidate for employment in China. You need to acknowledge that reality and plan accordingly. If you wish to work in Asia and only speak English fluently, then you need to target English speaking job markets like Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand.

What’s in a good photography portfolio?

Back in high school, I did photo 1-4 and advanced studies at the community college, as well as frequently helping out a local professional photographer. I was all set to study photography in college, but I met my husband a few weeks before I graduated high school, and never ended up going to college at all. At the time, it was right on the brink of when digital was surpassing traditional photography, and since I didn’t have room in our first apartment to set up a darkroom, nor the money to get into a digital setup, I just let photography go for a while, so I could pick it back up when we were in a better financial situation, and I could get the equiptment I needed. I have continued helping out the same photographer I did in high school over the years, and have gained invaluable knowledge of working with digital and doing all different types of photography. Last Christmas, my husband bought one of his old backup cameras for me (a Canon 20D, that had only been used a few times). Thankfully, most of the equiptment I had in high school doing traditional photography works with the new camera, so I have a good, semi-professional setup, albeit a bit outdated equiptment due to financial restrictions. I have had no problems finding clients who can’t afford a professional photographer, and am now regularly doing product photography for 5 small businesses websites, and odd jobs here and there (I only charge $10 an hour, which makes it affordable). Recently, a lady wanting a outdoor family portrait (a customer of one of the businesses I do photos for) asked to see my portfolio. I told her the truth, I haven’t ever gotten around to assembling one.

Seeing as I’m finding myself doing more and more work as the word spreads about my affordable rates and eye for lighting, I really do need something to show people that I do actually know I’m doing. Right now, all my best shots are on my computer and haven’t even been printed. I see no need at this point for a website, I just want a portfolio I can carry with me. While I haven’t had a camera until recently, I have still been using my photographer friends cameras, and have images ranging from studio/product work, architecture, sports, portraits, pets, wildlife, landscapes, “experimental/abstract”, you name it, I’ve done it and have some phenomenal shots. My main focus is on product/studio work, but I also want to highlight my eye for lighting (lighting is my biggest strength in photography, be it in a studio or natural) and to have a well rounded portfolio. My SIL gave me a blank scrapbook that holds 20 8×10 photos, has a durable hard cover, and seems pretty excellent for keeping my portfolio in. I guess I’m really looking for tips on what to put in a good, well rounded portfolio?

Looking for some basic information. I’m looking to market my services as an affordable designer for custom t-shirts/clothes and jewelry.

What program should I use?

1) Hire a professional to do it. It shouldn’t cost more than a few hundred if you don’t have TOO much stuff on it. A good professional program would cost you that much, and it’ll take you too long to learn it. And don’t be taken in by ‘easy to use’. That means they give you standard templates, which means your website look like it came out of a cookie cutter.

2) Maintaining a website is much easier than designing a website, and unless you want to update it frequently maintenance is zero, just pay monthly hosting costs.

Bandwidth should be of no concern as your website will unlikely draw too much traffic. The “standard” business package should suffice.

3) Search Engine Optimization is NOT an exact science. There are no tricks other than make your site “relevant” to the keywords you want to be associated with, and let the search engine’s spiders do the rest. Any one that says otherwise just want your $$$.

As for question 2 goes, I believe you should split test your home page as it is with a squeeze page type landing page.

Take the time to create a killer squeeze page that doesn’t give the visitor too many options. Right now if I go to your site I have the option to look at your services and prices, your Portfolio, your freebies, request a quote and more… The sole purpose of your landing page should be to capture the visitors name and email address so that you can follow up with that lead and have a chance to turn them into your customers.

Instead of inviting people out for coffee (very localized), you could offer a free 1 on 1 30 minute consultation via chat or skype… That makes it global. The only thing your visitor would have to do is enter their name and email address and schedule it.

Remember it is not only of how much traffic you get to your page, but what you do with that traffic that really counts.

Why bother designing a web site from scratch when there are so many affordable services?

I’ve been interested in web design for a very long time, but I’m starting to feel that the time and effort it will take me to create and code a so-so website are hardly worth it when I could just use drupal, weebly, wix, even wordpress, (i’m sure there are FAR better examples out there) or whatever and make a much more professional looking one that already has all the login accessibility and stuff so that I don’t have to code it myself. Why doesn’t everyone just use one of these systems? You can still make your own theme from scratch and have your own domain name etc, and it’s so much more efficient for a better final site!

The main two reasons to design websites manually still remain:
1) More freedom in what you get to do.
2) Ability to make your web sites more accessible to everybody.

They’re really the same reason though. It’s a little more difficult to separate structure from style and the like, using a tool.

It takes a lot of work to configure WYSIWYG programs to create code that is actually just even standards compliant.

I’m not sure if those too are great, because I haven’t used them myself. But isn’t Wix a free Flash compiler and Word-Press a web-log editor?

I designed and developed many web sites both in asp and asp.net however in each project, I felt the importance of planning. I do not know how to plan a web site before starting to it. Each time I design it, then I start coding straight away. Which in turn, at some point I realise that I needed to do something else before doing a specific task. This is due to not planning. How do I plan a web site project both in terms of design and programmatic (e.g. classes, subs & functions etc..)? Are there any resources you can suggest?

Meta data is only used by search engine spiders. It appears above the HTML code that forms the underpinnings of your site’s presentation layer.

Meta data includes such things as your site’s name, URL and key word tag. Once the most important factor in search engine results, keyword tags in meta data don’t have the weight they once did.

SEO tips:

1. Submit your site map to Google and Yahoo. This provides spiders with a set of directions and “personal” invitation.

2. Add HTML title tags to each page. Each tag becomes a Google listing, thus providing many more site access points. That’s why, if I search “Harry Potter” on Google, one listing on the first search engine results page (SERPs) will be for Amazon. If I click on it, I’m taken directly to the Harry Potter page rather than coming through Amazon’s front door.

3. Even though meta data stays the same from site page to site page, add it to every page. SE bots are none-too-bright.

4. Avoid keyword stuffing. 2-3% is good. Anything over 5% starts to sound like gibberish.

5. Use embedded text links in the main texts of your site. Search engine spiders follow links, so if you give them a lot of links within your site, spiders stay longer, index more and provide a more accurate picture of your site.

6. Use your HTML description tag to appeal to humans, not spiders. The description tag content appears directly under the blue link for your site on SERPs.

7. Avoid anything that even hints at black hat tactics, i.e. No invisible text, title tags match page data, keyword density of less than 5% in main text; 50% in headers.

8. Place keywords in headlines, underlined, bolded or italic text.

9. Focus on your top five keywords and phrases at first. Then, gradually expand your list.

10. Finally, visit Google’s webmaster central. This search engine runs the web world so you might as well do exactly what the Googlistas want, and they tell you what’s legal (and good) and what isn’t regarding SEO.

Tip no.1 – GOOD KEYWORD RESEARCH!

Using the wrong keywords is a BAD Idea – it can cuase you a serious headache as you will be spending both time and money trying to rank for keyterms, with the possibility of no – or a very low, ROI…

SO, to that end:

1) Put in keywords relating to your niche.
2) Make sure you have the country and language selected properly…
3) enter the captcha letters/code.
4) IMPORTANT – in the left hand sidebar, untick board, and TICK EXACT MATCH (and only exact match).
5) if you are targeting a specific country, use the ‘local’ results column… Click the column heading to sort on that field…

6) Try to look for keywords of 1000 searches per month minimum (unless you are going for lots of long tail keywords, rather than just a few stronger ones).

7) Remember though, the more searches per month, often the higher competition and thus harder it is to rank for the keyterm… SO…

8) When you have a few keyterms with between 1000 and 10000 exact match searches, visit google.com (or google.co.uk – or your countries version!) and one at a time, search each keyword and see how much competition there is (how many results are in Google for a search on the term). Write it down next to each keyterm. AS YOU DO THIS FOR EACH KEYTERM…

9) As you do the above for each keyterm – check what other sites are on page 1 of google. In general if it is very big sites (wikipedia, bbc, .gov sites or even really big brands) then it may be a tough to rank for keyword… IF there are 1 or 2 ezinearticles etc on the 1st page of results, it may be easier to rank for…

10) Select the keywords over 1000 exact match monthly local searches (presuming you are going after traffic from your country – which is usually a good idea, especially at first) and with as little competition as possible.
