Do credit bureaus differentiate between personal and small business credit scores? If so, does building up a small business credit score encompass the same practices as building personal credit? If one has a personal card with a particular creditor, then open a small business, would that creditor use any of their payment history/credit lines as some sort of a guide to extend small business credit? A true business credit card is a line of credit that is taken in the name of the business, under the business’ credit. Activity, whether good or bad, is reflected on your business’ credit report through D&B and other financial institutions, and the liability for any debts incurred and bills owed is with the business.

However, some companies out there offer “business” credit cards which they require a person guarantee for. These institutions will often ask for a personal guarantee, and will almost always ask for a social security number from the person applying for the card. If this is the case, the credit card is not a business credit card, but is simply a personal credit card which is used for the business. The business is not liable for bills and debts – you are.

When applying for a credit card for your business, watch out for areas asking for your SSN (and not your TaxID or EIN) and be wary of any credit card that asks for a personal guarantee. By ensuring that your credit card is in the name of your business, you can help to build your business’ credit, while avoiding creating problems with your own.

Many companies offer a list of credit cards that are issued under the business name only. Those lists typically run $300-$900, depending on the quality of the information inquiring. I would suggest starting your search online via google or yahoo. Search for “strong business credit” (just like that in quotes) to find services that sell the information.

How do I build Business Credit? How long should i build the line of credit before I apply for a loan?

You can spend the rest of your life building credit for your company, but I am unaware of any bank that will provide a substantial and long term loan to just your company. Most likely, you will still have to personally guarantee the loan.

I own two companies and they both have credit records. Still, I cannot secure long term financing for either of them with out being ultimately responsible for the loan. Even if Coca Cola was to apply for a loan, there would still be an actual person to sign for it.

When I first started out, I had hopes of getting my companies “credit worthy” for a loan. It just isn’t going to happen. However, I do enjoy many benefits of corporate ownership such as my business lines of credit. They do not report on my personal credit and therefore don’t count against me as debt when I am obtaining long term financing in my name. Hope this helped.

If you want to build credit, it will be hard to start, and will take great care to maintain it. It can be your best friend and your worst enemy.

Apply for a secured credit, a card that a savings collateral account linked. You will get approved unless you have past bankruptcies and liens.

Try getting a small loan from the bank.

Try to get a credit card with a co-signer.

I have terrible personal credit and my business has none. How do I build it’s credit without hurting it? I already have a checking account for it with my ein number.

One thing you can do is get a secured credit card. What you for this is lay a sum of money on it ahead of time (say a hundred or thousand). Start charging on it and pay it off as soon as the bill comes in. After 6 months, apply for one credit card. It doesn’t have to be a major credit card either as even a store credit card will enable you to be on your way to good credit rating.

One thing that will hurt your credit rating is to apply to too many cards (even if you are accepted for all of them, but it especially damages you if you are rejected). You do not want too many credit inquiries on the Equifax or TransUnion. This will show creditors who view your credit rating that you seem desparate for money. This is especially damaging if the creditors see you are not only applying everywhere, but you are being rejected. One or two should be the max per year.

Make sure you are never late in paying your bills. This too also shows up on Equifax and TransUnion- as well as it also shows creditors who view your record how much you pay each month to loans and cards and how many days you are behind.

I hope this helps… But getting a secured credit card is your best bet, imho.

You have to submit paperwork on your business to D&B, including profit and loss statement.

You build up your business credit by opening accounts with suppliers. You may have to start with COD at first.

You need to apply for a credit card processing account or you could set it up through PayPal virtual terminal (high rates though). I just set up credit card processing over the phone so it’s a little different, but Elavon offers discounted rates if you have a Costco membership. I’m pretty sure Elavon also had online credit card processing as an option. If you call them they should be able to tell you how to integrate it with Yahoo Small Business.

Before you start accepting credit cards make sure you get acquainted with all the scams going on. Credit cards suck, basically any customer can do chargeback and essentially steal merchandise from you. International orders are incredibly risky IMO. Do your research first.

Hi, if a person add you to their prime list, can they use your credit card to buy things on the site. Amazon will let you add four people to your account. These people do not have to live in the same state. I didn’t know how exactly how this works.

I have seen to many court cases with this situation and friendships lost.
It doesn’t matter how good of friends you are. It’s never a good idea to use a friends account’s, card’s or co sign for a vehicle.

I know that Verizon is gonna cap its data plans as well come this summer. My mom can’t decide whether to get a Verizon iPhone 4 or wait for the 5. If she waits for the iPhone 5 and Verizon isn’t offering unlimited data anymore when it does come out, will she keep unlimited data when she gets it or will she be forced into choosing a limited data plan?

No one knows and Verizon isn’t saying. However, if you read the various statements that Verizon has put out about tiered data, it really doesn’t sound like they intend to grandfather unlimited plans.

Typically, I advise people to wait for the new iPhone. In your mother’s case, I’d advise seriously considering the 4 because of the data plan.

Once your contract is up with T Mobile then you will not have to pay any early termination fees. When the new version of the I Phone comes out then it is always hard to get a hold off sometimes for weeks if not months after the release. Since you would be on a month to month contract with T Mobile then all you would have to pay is your final bill which should not be that much. I just read the news paper that stated Sprint’s I Phones 5 will be out Oct. 15th. Their plans are alot cheaper so I wanted to include that. I hope that this helps.

Basics of Credit Card Payment Protection

Credit card payment protection is a credit card feature that does not come as part of the standard packages that most credit cards offer. Some of the best credit cards do offer protection as part of the package, but most often than not, they are optional.

Credit card payment protection are called different things by each credit card company, but the basic idea behind it, as the term implies, is a special insurance policy that covers your monthly minimum payment for you in case you cannot make the payment. Obviously, there are special clauses governing events or occurrences that will make you eligible for cover. For example, not budgeting your money properly and not having enough of it to make the minimum payment by due date will not be covered by the insurance policy.

The most common cases covered by the payment protection plans of different credit cards include death, accidents, sickness, involuntary unemployment, and becoming a carer.

Note that the actual extent of coverage and the figures vary for different credit cards, although the best credit cards offer payment protection plans that cover these five events.

If you are beset by any of the above, with the exception of death, a percentage of your total balance, which is usually the monthly minimum payment, will be paid for you. This means that you do not have to worry about getting penalised for non-payment or late payment. However, it is important to know that most credit have a maximum limit for coverage. Hence, if your balance is very large, the payment protection plan might not be enough to cover the required minimum monthly payment.

It will definitely subtract to the amount you need to raise in order to meet the required minimum, but you will still need to raise the rest of the amount in order to avoid late fees. In case of death, the protection plan will not take care of monthly minimum payments but will cover all of the remaining balance, again up to the maximum limit of coverage.

Since payment protection plans are optional, you can always cancel the policy any time you wish. However, refund policies differ for each credit card company, so that the premium already paid out may not be refunded. The good news is that all credit cards Ireland banks offer and the payment protection plans they have are governed by insurance laws, so that in the case of disputes you can always file a complaint directly to the Financial Services Ombudsman at Dublin.

Once approved, the credit card interchange forwards that information on to the credit card company for payment. The payment is then credited by the credit card association to the merchant’s banking account. The merchant will, at the close of business day, send all their approvals in to their bank and payment is then made into that merchant’s bank account.

It is a simple but complex series of electronic communications that helps streamline payments by credit or debit cards for ecommerce merchants. Basics of Credit Card Payment Protection

Credit card payment protection is a credit card feature that does not come as part of the standard packages that most credit cards offer. Some of the best credit cards do offer protection as part of the package, but most often than not, they are optional.

Credit card payment protection are called different things by each credit card company, but the basic idea behind it, as the term implies, is a special insurance policy that covers your monthly minimum payment for you in case you cannot make the payment. Obviously, there are special clauses governing events or occurrences that will make you eligible for cover. For example, not budgeting your money properly and not having enough of it to make the minimum payment by due date will not be covered by the insurance policy.

The most common cases covered by the payment protection plans of different credit cards include death, accidents, sickness, involuntary unemployment, and becoming a carer. Note that the actual extent of coverage and the figures vary for different credit cards, although the best credit cards offer payment protection plans that cover these five events. If you are beset by any of the above, with the exception of death, a percentage of your total balance, which is usually the monthly minimum payment, will be paid for you. This means that you do not have to worry about getting penalised for non-payment or late payment. However, it is important to know that most credit have a maximum limit for coverage. Hence, if your balance is very large, the payment protection plan might not be enough to cover the required minimum monthly payment. It will definitely subtract to the amount you need to raise in order to meet the required minimum, but you will still need to raise the rest of the amount in order to avoid late fees. In case of death, the protection plan will not take care of monthly minimum payments but will cover all of the remaining balance, again up to the maximum limit of coverage.

Since payment protection plans are optional, you can always cancel the policy any time you wish. However, refund policies differ for each credit card company, so that the premium already paid out may not be refunded. The good news is that all credit cards Ireland banks offer and the payment protection plans they have are governed by insurance laws, so that in the case of disputes you can always file a complaint directly to the Financial Services Ombudsman at Dublin.
