Mary asks…
What are some good online websites to buy cheap new or used textbooks for school?
Since school is starting up, buying textbooks at school can be costly. I’ve searched sites like Amazon for cheap new or used textbooks but they are only a few cents cheaper than at school. Any other good websites to look at when buying online textbooks?

Administrator answers:
I don’t know, I like Amazon.com, but that’s just me. Check out www.half.com (ebay for textbooks) and www.cheaptextbooks.com . You may get lucky and find some good deals. Your best bet to find cheap textbooks is at your school. If your school has an online message board type thing for students, see if anyone is selling textbooks that you need or post a question asking for the books you need. Usually in cafeterias or student lounge or those types of areas there are bulletin boards for announcements for students. Check to see if anyone has posted a bulletin selling books or you could post your own asking for the books you need. You are so much more likely to get a good cheap deal this way. Often the online sites will get you good deals, but you end up making up for the difference in shipping charges.

Any good websites to buy cheap textbooks off of?
Please help my books for the upcoming semester are really expensive.

Administrator answers:
I always use http://www.bigwords.com They are a textbook search engine that searches all the online textbook retailers (including amazon, half, ebay etc) and rental sites (including chegg, bookrenter etc) to find you the best prices. You can even use them at the end of the semester to search for resellers to sell your books to.

Joseph asks…
What are the most credible websites to buy cheap textbooks?

Administrator answers:
I’ve looked into many websites previously. Now I buy all my textbooks from Amazon for both used and new textbooks. They often offer very good discount and it is a well-known trustworthy site.
Some sites may have price a few dollars cheaper than Amazon, but when you count in shipping cost (you need to buy books here and there for other websites, because you’ll not be able to find all the books you need in smaller websites) Amazon can do the best. I heard from some classmates that they had been scammed by some less popular website too, so choose the biggest and you won’t be wrong.
You better look for your textbooks early or there may be less and less choice for used books:

Hope it helps

What are the best websites to buy cheap college textbooks?

Administrator answers:
Some good websites for finding cheap textbooks include:
http://www.froogle.com
http://www.textbooknook.com
http://thefind.com
http://shopwiki.com
However, to find cheap textbooks there is more you can do than just search lots of websites. You can also ask your teacher if you can use an old edition. Old editions can be found much cheaper than the current one. You can also try finding instructor’s editions. Often they can be found for much less, because students often just search for the isbn, and the isbn changes for an instructor’s edition. (Not to mention you will get the answers.) Here’s and article I wrote with some more tips.
And when you go to sell them back this will help:
http://www.squidoo.com/selltextbooks
I hope that helps. Good luck.
